How to travel to Turku

Turku is easy to reach by air, ferry, train, and bus. Most international visitors arrive either via Helsinki Airport or directly at Turku Airport, while travellers from Sweden may enjoy the scenic ferry journey through the Finnish archipelago. Once in Turku, the city’s efficient public transportation network makes getting around easy.

Turku Airport

Turku Airport is located just 8 km from the city centre and offers international connections via Stockholm, Riga, and Gdańsk.

• Bus line 1, which runs frequently and takes approximately 25 min. Tickets cost €3.15 (€4.15 between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m.) and can be purchased via the Föli app or by contactless payment on board. More information is available here.

Helsinki Airport

Offering the widest range of international connections to Finland, Helsinki Airport is a convenient gateway to Turku.

• By bus
  Long-distance bus services operate directly from Helsinki Airport to Turku with a journey time of approximately 2-2.5 hours. Timetables and tickets are available via Matkahuolto.
• By train
  Train, by taking a commuter train from the airport to Pasila Station and changing to a VR train to Turku. The total journey takes approximately 2.5 hours, with frequent departures throughout the day.

Train travel is a comfortable way to reach Turku from Helsinki, Tampere, and elsewhere in Finland. The Finnish railway network is operated by VR. Turku has two railway stations, Turku Central Railway Station and Kupittaa Station, both offering convenient access to the city and local transport connections.

Arriving by ferry from Stockholm is a unique way to travel to Turku, offering beautiful views of the Finnish and Swedish archipelagos. Daily services are operated by Tallink Silja and Viking Line, with a journey time of approximately 10 hours.

From Turku Port:
